Tips For Protecting Your Event Furniture During Transportation
15th Mar 2018
Event furniture can be quite the investment, but you can make sure it’s a good investment when you take the right steps to care for your tables and chairs along the way.
Chair Trolley
One of the easiest ways to protect folding chairs and banqueting chairs during transportation is to organise and to store them on chair trolleys. It makes setup and teardown easier and more efficient, and it eliminates any accidental toppling when chairs are randomly stored or moved.
The folding chair trolley is a cart on wheels that is designed to safely transport folding, plastic, samsonite-style chairs. Each frame is a non-slip surface that can carry about 30 chairs securely.
The banqueting chair trolley looks a lot like a big banquet chair on wheels, but it is actually designed to stack banquet chairs and then wheel them around safely. Each trolley transports up to 10 chairs. It is equipped with a carpet base and back that protects the frame of the chair. This frame is hardwearing, which means it’s heavy duty so you can rely on it for years to come.
Round Table Trolley
Like the chair trolleys, a table trolley makes it safer and easier to move and to store multiple tables. One of the most popular trolleys is the round table trolley that holds up to 10 round tables that are 6-feet (183 cm) in diameter. The table trolley is made with a steel frame and a carpeted base. It’s on wheels for easy movement. The frame keeps the tables upright, and the carpeted base protects the surface from scratches or dents.
When you use a table trolley, you avoid excess and unnecessary wear that occurs when people roll tables around the room. It also protects your people from injury that can occur when carrying heavy tables one by one.
Folding Table Legs
Nothing is a bigger annoyance than trying to store tables that don’t have folding legs, especially tables in large quantities. One of the best things you can do for your banquet table inventory is to stock it full of folding tables. Many round and trestle table legs fold so that the tables can stack flatly against each other. There are even bistro tables that have removable legs for easy transportation and storage.
Chair Covers
Chiavari chairs are a style that don’t condense easily, but they look beautiful for events. This makes them worth the investment and hassle of moving and storing this style. One thing you can do to further protect this investment is to cover them with slips. There are slips available that drape over the stack of chairs to prevent any dust or weathering.
Seat Pads
Along the same lines as chair covers, seat pads are a great accessory to help protect the integrity of Chiavari chairs during use. This tip doesn’t necessarily help during transportation, but it does protect your chairs as investments, so we felt it was still worth mentioning. Seat pads prevent the chairs from wearing down faster over time. Pads are cheaper to replace than the entire chair, and the base of the chair is often the first thing to wear out.
